The June 21 leader from the Economist magazine echoes some of the points I made last week (I’m making no claims for originality of insight).
"…Western policy is in danger of strengthening the wrong side by making the Islamists look like martyrs and the secularists like traitors."
The article goes on to point out that the new Palestinian government in the West Bank not only has to deliver political reform and economic development, but also make progress in getting Israeli checkpoints removed and settlements dismantled.
A very tall order.
